MBABANE – Eswatini-born singer, songwriter, actress and celebrity make-up artist Nomzamo “Zamo” Dlamini continues to prove that hard work and consistency never go unnoticed.
The multi-talented entertainer recently added another prestigious accolade to her growing list of achievements after being honoured at the Africa Under 40 CEOs Summit and Honors 2026, held on 20 June 2026 at The Capital on The Park Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa.
The continental recognition celebrates exceptional young African business leaders, entrepreneurs, executives and innovators under the age of 40 who are making a meaningful impact across the continent through leadership, innovation, community service and business excellence.
Announcing her achievement, the awards’ official Instagram page wrote:
“Congratulations, Zamo Dlamini, on this remarkable achievement. Your story, your journey and your influence deserve to be celebrated. We are honoured to recognise individuals who are not only building successful careers and businesses, but also creating meaningful change across the continent.”
In an exclusive interview, Zamo described the recognition as both humbling and affirming.
How did it feel to receive such a prestigious continental honour?
“It’s truly an honour. When you start a business, most of the time you’re simply doing something you love while hoping to make a positive impact in people’s lives. My business has always been about making people feel beautiful, both inside and out.”
“When the nomination came through, I was overwhelmed because it was taking place in South Africa, but representing Eswatini made it even more special. Living a life that impacts others is very affirming because it tells you that you’re on the right path.”
Zamo admitted that her journey has not always been smooth.
“Business is challenging. There are always speed bumps, there’s so much competition, and new make-up artists are entering the industry every day. I’ve been doing this professionally since 2015, working with artists like Benjamin Dube and many other respected names in the industry.”
“There were moments when I doubted myself, but God placed destiny helpers around me throughout the years. I’m deeply grateful because many of them continue to hold my hand and support my journey.”
Besides your award-winning business, you’re balancing music and acting. What’s next for Zamo?
“I’m still juggling a lot of things, but my main focus right now is my music. I released my latest album in March this year, and I’m concentrating on bookings and live performances.”
“We make timeless music, so even if I decide to tour next year, the music will still be relevant.”
You’re also making waves on e.tv’s Isitha: The Enemy. How has the experience been?
“I’m really enjoying the character. I joined the cast in August last year, so it’s almost been a year, and I’m loving every moment.”
“We don’t know how long the story will continue, but one of the biggest highlights for me has been being able to introduce and promote the Siswati language on the show. That’s something I’m incredibly proud of, and it’s another important milestone on my CV.”
Despite successfully building careers in music, acting and beauty, Zamo says she refuses to limit herself.
“The sky is not the limit. I like to call myself limitless because I’m a driven person and also a perfectionist. Sometimes that’s both a blessing and a challenge because people don’t always know where to place their focus—is it my music, my acting or my work as a make-up artist?”
“I tell people they don’t have to choose. They can embrace every version of Zamo. I’m grateful to God for giving me the grace to navigate all these different careers simultaneously and so smoothly.”
Do you ever feel the pressure?
“Absolutely. Sometimes the pressure hits hard and you feel like you’re carrying the whole world on your shoulders. But because this is something God has given me, and not something that is purely man-made, everything continues to flow. For that, I’m truly grateful.”
What can your fans expect next?
With a smile, Zamo remained tight-lipped.
“I can’t spill the beans just yet, but I can say we’re expanding the Zamo brand. I’ll share more when the time is right.”
She also expressed heartfelt gratitude to supporters who continue to stand behind her career.
“I would like to thank everyone who travels all the way to Johannesburg and books me for their make-up because they simply want to support a fellow Liswati. I’m truly grateful for that kind of love and support.”
Over nearly two decades, Zamo has successfully built an impressive career spanning music, television and beauty. She began singing in church before recording her first demo as a teenager, later gaining recognition after appearing on Afro Café. She released her debut album Injabulo through Universal Music, joined the renowned gospel ensemble Joyous Celebration, and has since continued releasing Afro-pop music while building a successful acting career.
Her television credits include Jackpot Mathambo, Faith Takes Time, Ingozi, Lenyalo Ha Se Papadi and, most recently, Isitha: The Enemy, where she portrays the church-going character Thulile.
