MATSAPHA– Minister of Education and Training Owen Nxumalo has praised the Indlovukazi for her continued dedication towards improving the lives of the elderly, vulnerable children and disadvantaged communities across Eswatini.
Nxumalo made the remarks yesterday during the official opening of the Embiveni Biggest Braai 10th Edition held at Matsapha Meat Plaza. The event brought together government officials, sponsors and members of the public in support of charitable initiatives aimed at assisting the elderly through proceeds raised from the annual Biggest Braai event.
Speaking before guests, the minister applauded the Queen Mother’s humanitarian work, saying her love for the elderly reflected her deep love for the nation.
“Thanks to the Queen Mother for what she is doing for the country. We have seen that the Queen Mother loves the elderly and by doing so, it means she loves the country,” said Nxumalo.
“Besides the elderly, she also loves children and those in need. As the chairman had mentioned earlier, the Queen Mother has a passion for taking care of the elderly. We are very grateful to the Queen Mother.”
Nxumalo further highlighted that the Biggest Braai initiative had, for the past decade, played a significant role in supporting elderly citizens through funds raised during the event.
“Today we are here to deliver to Their Majesties on such a big event. It is not the first time, but the 10th year of the Biggest Braai and it is still going strong. The money collected from the Biggest Braai helps elderly people,” he said.
The minister also shared examples of the Indlovukazi’s compassion towards struggling communities. He recalled how she intervened to assist vulnerable children in Luve by ensuring they received shelter and care.
“There was also a time when the Queen Mother called me about a place called Lunkuntfu in Big Bend. She said her heart was shattered because there was neither a clinic nor a school there. I was amazed by how much the Queen Mother cares for her people,” he added.
Nxumalo said the area now has both a hospital and a school, adding that Their Majesties are expected to officially open the facilities soon.
“We appreciate her so much. Continue working for God and continue working for the country,” he concluded.
