MANZINI – Independent Eswatini rapper and producer Kid Real is taking a deeply personal approach to his latest release, Ngifudumele, using the song to reflect on grief, resilience and finding peace after loss.

Released on 18 July, the hip-hop single sees the artist move away from conventional rap themes, instead delivering an introspective account inspired by his late father and the lessons that continue to shape his life. The title, Ngifudumele which translates to “I’m warm” or “I’m at peace” serves as a metaphor for emotional healing and comfort despite life’s hardships.

The release adds to a growing body of work by Eswatini’s independent artists who are increasingly using music to tell personal stories and explore themes that resonate beyond entertainment. Rather than focusing on commercial trends, the song draws listeners into Kid Real’s own experiences, using lyricism to honour family legacy while reflecting on perseverance through difficult moments.

Produced entirely by Kid Real and mixed and mastered by Sean Cast HQ, the track blends contemporary hip-hop with reflective storytelling, a style that has become increasingly common among local urban artists seeking to connect with audiences through authentic experiences.

The release comes as Eswatini’s hip-hop scene continues to evolve, with independent musicians embracing digital platforms to distribute their music and build audiences without the backing of major record labels. The approach has enabled artists to maintain creative control while experimenting with more personal and socially conscious subject matter.

Kid Real has also hinted that Ngifudumele could be the beginning of a larger body of work. If the single continues to gain momentum, the artist plans to release his debut EP in the coming months, marking another milestone in his growing career.

For now, Ngifudumele stands as more than just another hip-hop release. It is a personal reflection on family, healing and resilience, offering listeners a glimpse into the experiences that continue to shape one of Eswatini’s emerging independent voices.
