KING APPLAUDS STRONG LUTSANGO TURNOUT AT BUGANU

BUHLENI – His Majesty King Mswati III has expressed heartfelt appreciation for the impressive turnout of Lutsango members during the first leg of the 2026 Buganu Ceremony held at Buhleni Royal Residence.

Addressing the gathering, His Majesty the King commended Lutsango for answering the royal call in large numbers, noting that their presence demonstrated unity, loyalty and pride in the nation’s cultural identity. The King said the overwhelming attendance set a positive example for the younger generation, who look up to Lutsango as custodians of tradition and moral guidance.

The first leg of the 2026 Buganu Ceremony took place at Buhleni Royal Residence, where thousands gathered in celebration of Eswatini’s rich heritage. Buganu, a cherished annual event, symbolises unity, thanksgiving and the preservation of Swazi customs through the sharing of marula brew.

His Majesty highlighted that Lutsango’s visible commitment to attending national ceremonies strengthens the cultural foundation of the Kingdom. He said when elders lead by example, the youth are inspired to honour and safeguard the traditions passed down through generations.

The King further emphasised that Buganu provides an important platform for emaSwati to reconnect with their roots, celebrate identity and reaffirm national pride. He encouraged continued participation in cultural ceremonies, stressing that tradition remains a pillar of stability and unity in the Kingdom.

The atmosphere at Buhleni was vibrant, with singing, dancing and traditional regalia adding colour and dignity to the proceedings. Lutsango members arrived in large numbers, creating a powerful visual statement of solidarity and reverence for the monarchy and national customs.

As the Buganu season continues, the King’s message resonated clearly – culture must be preserved, celebrated and handed down intact to future generations.

The strong turnout at Buhleni has set the tone for the remainder of the ceremony, reinforcing Eswatini’s enduring commitment to heritage, unity and respect for tradition.
