MADLANGEMPHISI INKHUNDLA – What was once a dream for many elderly residents of Madlangemphisi Inkhundla is steadily becoming a reality as strong and beautiful homes continue to rise across the constituency under His Majesty King Mswati III’s housing initiative.
Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla on Wednesday toured several homesteads in Madlangemphisi to assess the progress of houses being built for elderly and vulnerable citizens. The visit offered a firsthand look at the impact the programme is having on beneficiaries whose lives have been transformed through decent housing.
The Deputy Prime Minister was welcomed by Inkhundla leadership, including Indvuna Yenkhundla Alex Tsabedze, before receiving a progress report from Tindvuna, officials from the Eswatini National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), and the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF).
The housing project is being implemented through a collaborative effort involving the Government, the NDMA and the UEDF, whose members are playing a key role in the construction of the homes. Their contribution has helped accelerate the delivery of safe and dignified housing to elderly beneficiaries across the Inkhundla.
Among the homes visited was that of Vusi Dlamini in Maguga, who emotionally shared how his life had changed. Dlamini said there was a time when he had no house and no place to call home, but today he has a roof over his head. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to His Majesty, the Government and God, saying words were not enough to thank those who made the house possible.
Another beneficiary, Aron Makhundu of Maguga, also thanked His Majesty King Mswati III and the Government for restoring hope and dignity through the provision of a decent home.
The Deputy Prime Minister later visited the home of elderly beneficiary Sikhandzephi Sifundza at Mavula, Sihhoye. Sifundza expressed deep appreciation to His Majesty, Government and God for the life changing assistance. Before leaving the homestead, Dladla joined community members in prayer after a song of worship, creating an emotional and reflective moment.
The tour also took the Deputy Prime Minister to Tfuntini, where she visited elderly couple Sipho Dlamini and Gab’sile Magagula, whose house is still under construction. Dlamini thanked His Majesty, Government and God for the support being extended to his family.
Speaking during the tour, Dladla commended His Majesty King Mswati III for his continued commitment to improving the lives of elderly citizens. She said her visit was aimed at monitoring the progress of the King’s vision and witnessing the positive impact the housing programme is having on beneficiaries.
The Deputy Prime Minister revealed that 18 houses have already been built in Madlangemphisi Inkhundla following His Majesty’s directive that elderly people in the area should receive strong and beautiful homes. Several of the completed houses have already been officially handed over to beneficiaries.
She further noted that two beneficiaries are still awaiting construction due to previous land allocation challenges. However, Chief Mdvuba Magagula has since allocated land for the affected families, paving the way for construction work to begin shortly.
For many residents, the programme is about more than bricks and mortar. It is restoring dignity, providing security and offering renewed hope to elderly citizens who once faced uncertain living conditions. With the support of the NDMA, UEDF, community leaders and Government, the King’s vision continues to transform lives one home at a time.
