LOBAMBA – The youngest maidens in the country, known as the LaNgolotjeni Regiment, have officially been commissioned from the Ludzidzini Royal Residence to undertake reed cutting at Ezulwini as part of the ongoing 2026 Umhlanga Reed Dance.
The young maidens, led by Inkhosatana Nolikhwa, departed the Royal Residence with pride and enthusiasm as they prepared to fulfil their important role in one of Eswatini’s most cherished cultural traditions.
Their participation marks an important moment in the annual Umhlanga ceremony, as the younger generation continues to learn, preserve and carry forward the customs and values passed down through generations.
At Ezulwini, the LaNgolotjeni Regiment will join other maidens in the reed-cutting activities, demonstrating unity, discipline and pride in Eswatini’s cultural heritage.
The commissioning of the youngest maidens also highlights the important role of young Emaswati in ensuring that the country’s traditions remain vibrant and continue to be embraced by future generations.
