MBABANE– Liyakhanya Charity Organisation and Emmanuel Wesleyan Church (EWC) Joy Mission Bible College have joined forces to raise funds for students and strengthen the college’s outreach to young people.
The fundraising event is scheduled for 26 September 2026 at Ngculwini, where members of the community are expected to come together in support of the initiative.
Speaking about the partnership, Joy Mission Bible College student Sikolwethu Zulu said the collaboration was a reminder of the importance of working together to achieve meaningful results.
“If you are working on something alone, it mostly will not be a success. Even Jesus had the 12 disciples working with Him,” Zulu said.
Zulu explained that the college had previously attempted to operate independently, but found that working alone presented challenges. The partnership with Liyakhanya Charity Organisation has since created an opportunity for the two organisations to combine their efforts.
She said one of their main wishes was to create greater awareness about the Bible college, particularly among young people, so that they could learn more about God and develop stronger personal relationships with Him.
Zulu also shared her own experience, saying she decided to follow the path of learning about God and had seen a positive change in her life.
“I also took a step and said, ‘Let me walk this path.’ It is a walkable path, and even today I am still standing on it as a changed person,” she said.
Liyakhanya Charity Organisation founder and director Thabiso Bhembe said the organisation was established in 2020 after he identified a need within communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bhembe said he observed that some men were struggling when they could no longer fulfil their traditional role as providers because of the economic challenges brought by the pandemic.
He said the organisation was formed to support people not only during difficult periods but also in building sustainable livelihoods and responsible communities.
Liyakhanya conducts outreach programmes that include donating food and clothing, as well as educational initiatives focused on life skills, personal responsibility and supporting families.
Through the upcoming fundraiser, Bhembe said they hope to support students at Joy Mission Bible College while continuing to provide essential items to communities in need.
The event will also feature performances by Siphiwo Ndoni, alongside various activities aimed at bringing the community together.
The partnership reflects how collaboration between community organisations and faith-based institutions can create opportunities for education, personal development and community support.
