MANZINI– The Manzini Region has selected its top cultural performers who will represent the region at the Eswatini International Trade Fair (EITF) 2026 after a competitive culture elimination held to identify outstanding groups in Ingadla, Sibhaca and Lutsango.
The Manzini Region Trade Fair culture eliminations were organised by the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture in partnership with Mula Sports. The competition provided cultural groups with an opportunity to demonstrate their talent while promoting the preservation and appreciation of Eswatini’s cultural heritage.
In the infants’ Ingadla category, Maliyaduma emerged as the winner after scoring 76%. Velezizweni claimed first position in the infants’ Sibhaca category with 89%, while Bhekinkosi secured first place in the Lutsango category with 87.5%.
The Ingadla category featured several groups competing for places at the Trade Fair 2026. Maliyaduma finished first, followed by Velezizweni in second place, Dvokolwako in third and Ezulwini in fourth. In the Sibhaca category, which featured seven competing teams, Dvokolwako took first place, followed by Ngculwini, Bhudla and Zulwini.
Beyond the competition, the event provided a platform for young people to actively participate in cultural activities and learn about traditions that have been passed down through generations.
Tababe Mavimbela from Maliyaduma encouraged young maidens to love and understand their culture, saying knowledge and appreciation of cultural traditions help young people value their identity and contribute to preserving Eswatini’s heritage. She further emphasised the importance of creating opportunities for young people to participate in cultural activities and learn from those who have played a role in preserving traditional practices.
Ndzingeko Hlatjwako from Mantjongo said culture was important in keeping young people engaged in positive activities. “Cultural participation provides young people with a constructive way to spend their time while remaining connected to their heritage and traditions,” he said.
The performances showcased the diversity and vibrancy of Eswatini’s cultural traditions, with participants displaying discipline, energy and pride throughout the competition. With the regional eliminations now concluded, the winning groups will turn their attention to preparations for the EITF 2026, where they will represent Manzini Region and showcase their cultural talent to a wider audience.
The event is expected to provide the groups with another platform to celebrate Eswatini’s cultural heritage while demonstrating the role of young people in keeping traditional performances alive.
