MANZINI – Medicines at Manzini Government Hospital are now more secure than ever.
Recent upgrades to the Pharmacy department ensure drugs are safely stored, giving patients and staff peace of mind while preventing any theft.
Minister for Health Hon. Mduduzi Matsebula was taken through the revamped Pharmacy unit to inspect offices and review the security measures protecting medicines and staff during his visit to commission a new CT Scanner and officially unveil refurbished hospital departments.
Minister Matsebula expressed his satisfaction with the improvements, noting that safeguarding medical supplies is a critical part of healthcare delivery. “I am very happy with the security system. It is good to see that the medicines in this facility are kept in a safe place and this system will prevent any theft. A job well done to the team,” he said.
The upgrades include enhanced storage systems, controlled access to offices and storerooms, and improved monitoring of sensitive areas, all designed to ensure accountability and prevent misuse of essential medicines. Hospital staff said these measures will support the smooth running of pharmacy operations and protect vital medical supplies for patients.
These improvements form part of the Ministry of Health’s wider strategy to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and ensure uninterrupted service delivery. By combining modern security practices with careful management of resources, the hospital aims to reduce risks and provide a safer environment for both staff and patients.
Minister Matsebula also commended the hospital management and technical team for their dedication to implementing these upgrades, describing the initiative as “a significant step in strengthening healthcare delivery and safeguarding essential medicines for the nation.” He emphasized that protecting drugs is not just about preventing theft but also about ensuring patients have continuous access to life-saving treatments.
With these enhancements, Manzini Government Hospital sets a strong example for other healthcare facilities in the country, showing that patient care goes hand-in-hand with robust security measures.
