MANZINI – Government has confirmed the official handover of the temporary Manzini main bus rank site will take place on 19 June 2026, with full operations scheduled to commence on 20 June 2026 as part of the ongoing Manzini Mall Development transport relocation plan.
The update was announced following a meeting between the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Appolo Maphalala, where progress on the relocation of public transport operations was reviewed.
The temporary bus rank arrangement forms part of preparations for the Manzini Mall construction project being implemented by Stefanutti Stocks, which has necessitated the reorganisation of transport operations within the city.
Authorities said extensive consultations were held with transport stakeholders, including public transport associations, the National Road Transport Association Council, the Manzini City Council, informal traders, and other affected parties to ensure a smooth transition.
Minister Manqoba said all systems were in place for the handover and relocation process, adding that cooperation among stakeholders has been key to progress.
He stated that government remains committed to improving infrastructure while minimising disruption to commuters and businesses.
Under the relocation plan, cross-border transport will operate from Riverstone, transport passing through the Nazarene robot will shift to the Old Trade Fair Bus Rank, while vendors will be allocated to designated trading points including the Old Trade Fair, Satellite Bus Rank, and the Trade Hub.
The Manzini City Council said the phased approach is intended to ensure continuity of services as Manzini undergoes major urban redevelopment.
