MATSAPHA— For car lovers, a Saturday afternoon can be about more than simply getting behind the wheel. This weekend, Matsapha will bring together the cars, the music and the people who enjoy the lifestyle that comes with them.
The second annual Park & Chill, hosted by Mdodi Drags and Spins, is set for Goldwagen Matsapha on 15 August, with stance, spinning and racing expected to take centre stage. The event has a strong social side to it, with enthusiasts expected to spend the day checking out different builds, meeting fellow petrolheads and soaking up the atmosphere around the cars.
The line-up also keeps the day from being purely about engines and exhausts. Vasco K De Dang and Z’oleka DJ are billed to provide the music, while MC Groove General will keep things moving.
For those bringing their own cars, the event is open to different sections of the car scene, including stance, spin and drag enthusiasts. That mix is likely to give the gathering its own rhythm, with carefully styled cars sharing space with machines built to make noise and put on a show.
Entry is E50 for adults, while children get in free. The event is scheduled to start at 12 noon, with the poster also indicating that cooler boxes and camping are allowed.
Park & Chill arrives at a time when Eswatini’s car culture continues to find new ways of bringing enthusiasts together. From social media showcases to live events, modified cars have become part of a wider lifestyle built around creativity, competition and community.
For Matsapha, Saturday’s gathering is therefore less about simply looking at cars and more about the culture surrounding them the sound of engines, music in the background and enthusiasts comparing builds. By the end of the day, the cars may be the main attraction, but the people and the atmosphere are likely to be what make Park & Chill memorable.
