MBABANE – Minister of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) Hon. Savannah Maziya has been recognised with the Leadership Category Award at the Prestigious Annual Predecessors Awards 2025 – Africa Edition, held on December 6, 2025 at The Revival City in Midrand, Johannesburg.

The Predecessors’ Awards Is a globally celebrated initiative that honours individuals who have made significant, transformational, and often under-recognised contributions across sectors. The awards aim to shine a spotlight on “heroes around the world who have not been duly honoured,” celebrating their leadership, service to humanity, and innovation.

This year’s Africa Edition, was convened by Relevant Achievers Impacting Nations, in collaboration with The World Conference of Mayors, Inc., founded by H.E. Johnny L. Ford, the first Black Mayor of Tuskegee, Alabama. Past honourees include former Ghanaian President Mr. K. Addo-Kufuor and former Prime Minister of Eswatini Mr. A.T. Dlamini, alongside influential leaders, innovators, philanthropists, and public servants.

Upon receiving the award, Minister Maziya expressed her gratitude, saying “I am very honoured to receive this award and thank those who conferred it. It is encouraging to be recognised for promoting STEM for women in Eswatini and globally, and to understand that people around the world appreciate these efforts. His Majesty the King continually reminds us to take our place in the world and work towards being a first world country. This honour makes me proud to play even a small role in contributing to that future. I am thankful and remain humbled.”

Hon. Savannah Maziya has distinguished herself as a continental and global advocate for STEM advancement and the empowerment of young women in ICTs. She is the founder and champion of the STEM Future Pioneers Mentorship Program, which mentors hundreds of girls, particularly from rural, underserved, and differently abled communities.

On the international stage, Minister Savannah Maziya has championed women’s participation in STEM through collaborations that open opportunities across Africa and beyond.

Her philanthropic efforts reflect her dedication to purpose-driven leadership, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that STEM and ICT opportunities reach those who need them most. She also serves as Co-Chair of the Global SDG 5 Council on Gender Equality, positioning her at the forefront of global efforts to advance women’s empowerment.

In 2025 alone, Minister Maziya received multiple recognitions for her leadership and transformative work. These include:

  • Visionary Leadership in Transforming ICT & STEM Education Award – Space Kidz India
  • Outstanding Record Breaker Award – Eswatini Customer Service Excellence Awards
  • Guest-of-Honour Award of Excellence – Service Excellence Awards
  • BlueSheroes Award 2025 – Standard Bank

Under her strategic direction, the Ministry of ICT also achieved Innovation of the Year and Government Ministry of the Year for the groundbreaking Government in Your Hand initiative, highlighting her commitment to accessible, citizen-centred digital transformation.

The Predecessors’ Awards continue to honour changemakers whose contributions significantly influence nations and communities, preserving legacies and inspiring future generations to lead with integrity and impact.
