KWALUSENI The Mvasi League Awards, Eswatini’s pioneering answer to the prestigious Ballon d’Or, is set to return for its highly anticipated second edition on 20 March 2026 at the Kwaluseni Sports Emporium.

Founded by Khetselo Tfwala and Khayelihle Dlamini, the initiative aims to propel local university talent onto the global stage through rigorous recognition and celebration.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event—supported by partners like Nsingizini Hotspurs, Instacash, OK Foods, and the University of Eswatini (UNESWA)—the organisers are raising the bar for this year. The event will run from 18:00 to 21:00.

The awards have become a hallmark of formal recognition, previously graced by dignitaries including the Vice Chancellor, the Dean of Student Affairs, EFA CEO Mr Mngomezulu, and leadership from Nsingizini Hotspurs. Building on that foundation, this year’s edition is designed to be more inclusive.

“Our main goal is to leave no one behind,” the organisers shared. A major highlight of this year’s expansion is the addition of categories specifically catering to women in football, alongside the recognition of the best player from each of the three UNESWA campuses.

The awards are driven by a dedicated leadership team committed to elevating university talent. The team steering this initiative includes:

  • Khetselo Tfwala: Chairperson
  • Bandile Dlamini: Vice Chairperson
  • Tenele Mkhonta: Treasurer
  • Londelwa Khumalo: Secretary
  • Asakhona Dlamini: Vice Secretary
  • Khayelihle Dlamini: Public Relations Officer
  • Nothando Mabila: Event Logistics Manager
  • Mhlengi Simelane: Mvasi League Board Chairperson

The Mvasi League Awards are also forging deeper academic and institutional ties. The Eswatini Medical Christian University’s SRC has confirmed they will honour the invitation, while the Institute of Development Management (IDM)—a loyal partner since the inaugural event—is also set to attend. Adding to the spectacle, the “Queens of UNESWA”—including Miss UNESWA, Miss Freshers’ from all three campuses, and their respective princesses—will play a central role in the parading and presentation of the trophies.

While the organisers are keeping their full entertainment lineup under wraps for now, they have confirmed that saxophonist Phiwo Mnisi will perform, along with DJ Shauzy, who will keep the audience on their feet throughout the evening. As the event is a formal gathering attended by distinguished guests, members of the public are welcome to attend, though they are advised that “holy waters” (alcohol) will not be permitted inside the venue.

This year’s edition is powered by a robust list of supporters, including Nsingizini Hotspurs, Roadmaster, ATWA Water, Instacash, MyWardrobe Eswatini, 50 Cents Restaurant, and House of Drip.

With more categories, wider institutional participation, and an atmosphere of celebration, the 2026 Mvasi League Awards promise to be an unmissable event for football and talent enthusiasts. Be there or be told.
