MBABANE– The National Agricultural Marketing Board (NAMBoard) has directed all traders dealing in scheduled agricultural products to urgently update and register their records.
The directive affects importers, exporters and transiters, with non-compliance set to result in the non-renewal of permits.
In a public notice released under the NAMBoard Act No. 13 of 1985, the Board stated that the exercise is a prerequisite for the continued issuance of permits for importing, exporting and transiting scheduled agricultural products in and out of Eswatini.
NAMBoard clarified that no trader will be allowed to export, import or move scheduled agricultural commodities across borders without valid and up-to-date registration details captured in its system.
The exercise, which falls under Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance, will run from May 6 to May 31, 2026.
NAMBoard emphasised that the move is aimed at tightening compliance, improving traceability of agricultural products and ensuring that all exports and imports meet national regulatory standards.
“All permit clients are required to update their registration details by submitting the necessary documents,” the notice stated.
Among the required documents are a valid trading licence, certificate of incorporation for companies, Form J, memorandum and articles of association, national identification documents for directors and traders, tax identification number (TIN), as well as updated contact details.
The Board stressed that compliance is not optional, especially for exporters whose operations depend on valid permits for cross-border trade.
“Failure to comply will lead to non-renewal of permits until all supporting documents are provided,” the notice warned, adding that this will effectively halt the ability to export, import or transit scheduled agricultural products.
Traders have been urged to act within the stipulated timeframe to avoid disruptions to their businesses and cross-border operations.
