MBABANE– The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Pholile Shakantu, has received the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria, Nikolaus Marschik, in a meeting aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.
The engagement, which took place on Monday, May 4, 2026, highlights the growing partnership between Eswatini and Austria, with both nations expressing a shared commitment to enhancing cooperation and exploring new opportunities for mutual development.
Focus on key sectors for collaboration
During their discussions, the two ministers explored a range of strategic areas where collaboration can be expanded. Among the key sectors highlighted were tourism, energy and trade.
On tourism, both parties acknowledged the potential to strengthen collaboration in promoting their destinations and encouraging visitor exchange. There was also a strong emphasis on energy, particularly in advancing initiatives that support sustainable and innovative solutions in line with global trends.
Trade relations were equally prioritised, with both countries recognising the importance of creating an enabling environment for investment and increasing economic exchange. Officials noted that stronger trade ties could unlock new opportunities for businesses and contribute to economic growth in both countries.
