MBABANE – National events are more than gatherings on the calendar; they are a reminder for Emaswati to put differences aside, embrace one another and stand together as one family, Her Excellency Thulisile Dladla has said.

Dladla said the spirit of “Asibambaneni sibe ngumdeni”, let us hold together and become one family reflects the message of unity promoted by His Majesty King Mswati III through his continued call for Emaswati to attend and participate in national events.

She explained that whenever Emaswati gather for national occasions, they are given an opportunity to experience what it means to belong to one nation, regardless of where they come from.

According to Dladla, such gatherings create an environment where people do not focus on their differences or backgrounds. Instead, they meet as Emaswati, walk together, celebrate together and share moments of happiness as one people.

“When we gather at national events, we don’t look at where others are coming from or discriminate against each other. We are uniform; we just gather and walk together, be happy together as one family of Eswatini,” Dladla said.

She said the significance of these gatherings extends beyond the events themselves, as the spirit of unity should continue in communities and homes.

Dladla emphasised that the call to come together should encourage Emaswati to develop a culture of love, care and support for one another.

She said being part of one nation means recognising that the wellbeing of one person or community is connected to the wellbeing of others. National unity, therefore, should be reflected not only when people gather in large numbers, but also in how they treat and support each other in their daily lives.

The national events also provide an opportunity for people from different parts of the country to meet and share a common sense of belonging. In these moments, differences in background, location or social circumstances become less important as citizens unite around their identity as Emaswati.

Dladla said this is part of the deeper meaning behind His Majesty’s call for the nation to come together.

The message is ultimately about building a country where Emaswati can look beyond their differences and recognise the common values and responsibilities that connect them.

The warmth and excitement seen when Emaswati gather for national occasions can therefore become a lesson for everyday life that unity is strengthened when people choose to love, respect, care for and stand with one another.

“Asibambaneni sibe ngumdeni” serves as a simple but powerful reminder that while Emaswati may come from different communities, they remain part of one national family.
