LOZITHA – His Majesty King Mswati III has emphasised that nations and leaders who live and lead in truth are blessed by God.
The King said this while preaching at Mandlulo Hall during the Year Opening Prayer Services held on February 14, 2026.
His Majesty said God desires people who fear Him, respect Him and remain humble, noting that leaders who walk in truth lay a strong foundation for their nations. He explained that loving oneself is reflected in living according to God’s principles and walking in the light.
“People who love themselves are those who walk in truth. Everything is light when you walk in truth. You do not do things that are bad, and God will bless you,” the King said.
He reminded the congregation that people must live with the understanding that God sees them at all times, whether they are seen by others or not. His Majesty urged individuals to rebuke themselves when they act contrary to God’s laws, warning that wrongdoing brings disgrace before God.
Call to Embrace Agape Love
In the same message, His Majesty urged emaSwati to embrace agape love, describing it as God’s unconditional love that expects nothing in return. He encouraged the nation to reflect on God’s love as a guiding principle for personal conduct and national unity.
Quoting John 3:16, the King explained that God demonstrated agape love by giving His only begotten Son for the salvation of the world. He said this love is freely given to all people, regardless of status, wealth or circumstance.
“God does not choose whom to love. Whether you are rich or poor, God loves you,” the King said, adding that forgiveness is central to agape love, as demonstrated by Jesus Christ.
Fasting and Renewal
As the nation marks 40 years of independence, His Majesty issued a call for spiritual renewal through fasting, urging emaSwati to observe 40 days of fasting as a sign of humility and repentance before God.
He said fasting allows individuals and the nation to draw closer to God, reflect on their ways and seek divine guidance for the future. According to the King, faith and obedience to God’s principles are essential for national renewal and transformation.
The message concluded with a reminder that truth, unconditional love and faith remain central to God’s blessings upon individuals, families and the nation, encouraging emaSwati to walk uprightly and seek God in all circumstances.
