….. Council Elections Mark a Resounding Victory for Unity and Progress

PIGG’S PEAK – The air was electric with anticipation on the morning of 2 May 2025 as Pigg’s Peak Town Council gathered for its inaugural leadership elections, and by sunset, the town had a refreshed leadership team ready to drive its vision forward.
With an atmosphere of unity and optimism, Councillor Sipho Shongwe was re-elected as Chairperson of the Board with an emphatic 7-1 majority.
His reappointment was not just a nod to experience but a powerful endorsement of his unwavering commitment to strategic governance.
Shongwe, known for his visionary leadership, expressed heartfelt gratitude: “This victory belongs to all of us, together, we will push the boundaries of what’s possible for Pigg’s Peak.”
Adding to the Council’s powerhouse team, Councillor Dr. Glory Msibi Dlamini was elected unopposed as Deputy Chairperson. A respected figure in local governance, Dr. Dlamini brings a collaborative approach and a fresh dynamism to the Board. “Our town is poised for transformation,” she remarked, “and I am honoured to walk this journey with leaders who put community first.”
The Finance Committee, crucial for steering the Council’s financial future, also saw strong appointments. Councillor Lucky Tfwala retained his seat as Finance Chairperson, lauded for his prudent fiscal management.
New energy came in with Councillor Lungile Dlamini, elected Deputy Finance Chairperson, whose commitment to continuity promises to bolster the team’s effectiveness. Meanwhile, Councillor Muzi Simelane joined as a Finance Committee Member, adding sharp oversight and insight.
These elections were not just routine proceedings; they were a powerful statement of Pigg’s Peak’s collective aspiration for stability, accountability, and progress. Community members and stakeholders have already voiced their optimism, seeing in this leadership a team capable of translating ambitions into real, positive change.
