MANZINI– A night of unmatched worship and musical brilliance!

The Mavuso Trade Centre was electric on Saturday evening, as gospel music enthusiasts gathered for a night that will go down in Eswatini’s music history as one of the most powerful and memorable events. The star of the night, Nothando Hlophe, whose live recording concert, titled A New Dawn, not only captivated the audience with its musical excellence but also ushered in a profound spiritual awakening for many.

From the moment the doors opened, it was clear that something extraordinary was about to unfold. By 6:30 p.m., the surrounding area was already packed with cars, and queues stretched long outside the venue as hundreds of eager attendees rushed to secure a seat. The show was officially sold out, and many concertgoers were left standing throughout the night, refusing to miss even a second of the performance.

Though technical delays pushed back the start time, the energy in the building remained palpable. To warm up the crowd, Eswatini’s beloved comedian Dr Shakes (Bonginkosi Dlamini) took the stage at 8 p.m., delivering a hilarious set that had the audience roaring with laughter. However, the most touching moment came shortly after—without prompting, the audience stood together and spontaneously broke into song, clapping in perfect harmony. It was a raw, unscripted moment of praise that only heightened the anticipation for what was to come.

By 8:45 p.m, the star of the show appeared on stage, dressed in a radiant red gown that shimmered like divine armor, a true vision of grace. Backed by an incredibly tight live band, she opened the show with her powerful anthem Igazi LikaJesu. The response was immediate—the crowd erupted into applause, and by the time she reached the second verse, the entire venue was on its feet, hands raised in worship, their voices unified in song.

The energy only escalated from there as guest artists began to take the stage. Faith Khanyile, the founder of Glory of the Last Days, joined Nothando for a soul-stirring rendition of Sondelani, their harmonies blending perfectly in what felt less like a performance and more like an intimate, spiritual moment.

The surprises kept coming. Sands, one of Eswatini’s most beloved Afro-soul artists, took the stage next, joining Nothando for a beautiful duet that fused gospel with acoustic soul. Their connection was undeniable, and when the two embraced after their performance, the crowd went wild, celebrating the union of two national musical treasures.

Xolly Mncwango, the powerhouse South African gospel vocalist known for her stirring worship anthems, then joined Nothando, creating a moment of vocal excellence and spiritual intensity. Their collaboration brought many in the audience to tears. Not long after, Ayanda Ntanzi, another South African gospel giant, added his voice to the mix, sending waves of awe through the venue with his stunning solo performance.

Nothando also invited more artists from her new album, including Musa Skhosana and Rofhiwa Manyaga. Each collaboration was unique and perfectly woven into the fabric of the evening’s musical journey, ensuring that the audience wasn’t just entertained but spiritually ministered to.

The concert’s title, A New Dawn, couldn’t have been more fitting. It symbolized not only a new chapter in Nothando’s career but also a fresh start for the gospel music scene in Eswatini. “A new dawn is a profoundly special moment for a gospel artist,” Nothando shared with the audience. “It means hope, it means renewal, it means purpose. Tonight wasn’t just about me; it was about showing what gospel music can be when we give it everything we have.”

In addition to the spiritually enriching experience, the production quality was nothing short of world-class. The lighting, sound system, and seamless stage transitions rivalled international gospel concerts. The high-end visuals, impeccable sound, and flawless execution left many attendees in awe, as they marvelled at how an Eswatini-based event could compete with the best of South Africa and beyond.

Indeed, the A New Dawn concert was a defining moment for gospel music in Eswatini, setting a new standard for excellence. Nothando Hlophe’s ability to blend raw talent with high-level production and deep spiritual authenticity has firmly placed her at the forefront of the gospel music scene. For the audience, it wasn’t just a night of incredible music—it was an unforgettable experience that will resonate for years to come.
