MBABANE – The University of Eswatini (UNESWA) has received a generous donation of 170 desks and chairs from OK Foods, operating under Linac Investments, valued at over E55 000.

The handover ceremony was held on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, at the Kwaluseni campus, marking a vital contribution to improving the university’s learning infrastructure.

University Vice Chancellor Professor Justice Thwala expressed heartfelt appreciation to OK Foods, describing the donation as timely and impactful. “This contribution will enhance comfort and functionality in our lecture halls, benefiting both students and academic staff,” Professor Thwala said. He noted that as student enrolment continues to grow, support from the private sector remains crucial to maintain conducive learning environments.

Representatives from Linac Investments, including General Manager Sandile Dlamini, explained that the donation is part of the company’s ongoing corporate social responsibility programme. “Supporting education is a key focus for us. By contributing to UNESWA, we are investing in the skills and empowerment of young people, which in turn supports national development,” Dlamini said.

The Vice Chancellor encouraged other companies to follow suit, emphasizing that partnerships between business and academia strengthen the country’s education system. “Education is the backbone of socio-economic progress, and private sector support can have a tangible impact,” he added.

Students and academic staff welcomed the donation, noting that improved classroom furniture enhances concentration, engagement, and overall learning outcomes. The university reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the private sector and other stakeholders to address infrastructure needs and maintain high standards of education.

OK Foods’ initiative stands as a strong example of meaningful collaboration between business and academia, demonstrating how corporate social responsibility can positively transform the learning experience for students at UNESWA.
