PIGGS PEAK- Piggs Peak Citizens were on Saturday crowned champions of the inaugural KOBWA Soccer Tournament 2025/26 after an impressive run that saw them emerge victorious at the Killarney Sports Ground.
The triumph marked a historic moment for the club as they lifted the trophy in front of jubilant supporters, cementing their name as the first-ever winners of the prestigious Piggs Peak knockout competition.
In a colourful prize-giving ceremony held shortly after the final, the team captain received the trophy from KOBWA Chief Executive Officer, Mr Shongwe, alongside Piggs Peak Mayor Kwena Shongwe. The moment symbolised not only victory for the team but also the success of a tournament that brought together communities through football.
As champions, Pigg’s Peak Citizens walked away with E10,000, the trophy and gold medals, capping off a dominant performance throughout the tournament.
The KOBWA Soccer Tournament attracted several competitive teams from across the region, all battling for top honours, but Piggs Peak Citizens proved to be the standout side, showing consistency, discipline and determination on their way to lifting the title.
Supporters turned out in large numbers at Killarney Sports Ground, creating a vibrant atmosphere that highlighted the importance of grassroots football in the region. The tournament also showcased emerging talent, providing a platform for players to shine and gain recognition.
Organisers and sponsors have hailed the first edition of the tournament as a success, with expectations already building for an even bigger and better competition next season.Piggs Peak Citizens’ victory does not only bring silverware but also pride and bragging rights as the inaugural KOBWA Soccer Tournament champions.
