PIGG’S PEAK – A new E2.2 million digital innovation centre has been officially launched in Pigg’s Peak to serve the constituencies of Piggs Peak, Ndzingeni, and Ntfonjeni.

The SEDCO iHub was unveiled yesterday at the SEDCO Estate by the Minister of ICT Savannah Maziya, who was joined by the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo, regional leaders, and digital stakeholders.
The centre is designed to boost entrepreneurship, digital skills, and economic inclusion in the northern Hhohho region.

“This is your space,” said Minister Maziya, addressing a crowd filled with young aspiring techpreneurs. “Let this be a place where your dreams transform into reality, where your skills sharpen and your ideas grow wings. Together, we are building a digitally empowered Eswatini.”
The iHub is a collaborative project between SEDCO, the Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It will provide internet connectivity, co-working spaces, ICT training, and digital support services to young entrepreneurs, women, and persons with disabilities.
SEDCO CEO Khethiwe Mhlanga said the hub represents a significant step in promoting small businesses and digital innovation.
“We were intentional in ensuring that the procurement process empowered local entrepreneurs. We want this space to reflect the standards and quality our businesses are capable of delivering,” she said.
She added that 103 small businesses have already registered on the iHub’s online business directory and that community outreach continues in surrounding areas. The initiative supports His Majesty King Mswati III’s vision to replicate such innovation centres across all Tinkhundla.

Sebenele Zikalala, CEO of Genesis 7, commended the development, saying, “What we’re seeing here is the emergence of a tech-savvy youth that is not just using technology, but building it, designing solutions that directly respond to community needs.”
The iHub’s launch marks another milestone in the government’s broader digital strategy. Minister Khumalo said the centre complements Eswatini’s economic development goals and the national push toward digital transformation.
“I’m also delighted to share that the next ICT Hub, located at Macetjeni, is progressing swiftly,” said Minister Maziya. “Our aim is to establish similar facilities nationwide, ensuring equitable access to digital tools and opportunities.”
The centre will offer services in business development, digital skills training, and access to online markets. It is expected to drive innovation and improve access to digital infrastructure for underserved communities.
With the iHub now open, Piggs Peak takes a bold step forward in becoming a hub for innovation and economic opportunity in Eswatini’s digital future.
