MBABANE– At only 22 years old, Persie Zwidee Losonkondlo is using poetry and music to heal emotional wounds and inspire young people across Eswatini.
Since entering the creative industry in 2023, Persie has quickly become one of the country’s promising spoken word artists. Known for his honest storytelling and emotional depth, the Mahwalala-born poet believes words have the power to comfort, encourage and heal people going through difficult moments in life.
Persie started his artistic journey under African Passion Records, where he released his early projects and built his reputation as a creative who speaks openly about pain, hope and resilience. During this period, he released several projects that introduced audiences to his reflective and heartfelt style of poetry.
Now working with Magamekhehla Entertainment, Persie has already released four singles and is preparing three albums for future release. Although he has not yet performed under the new label, he explained that the quiet period has allowed him to focus on improving his craft and strengthening his message.
The young poet attended Ncabaneni before completing his studies at Enhlanganisweni High School in Mpolonjeni. He said his upbringing and life experiences helped shape the voice that many people now connect with through his poetry and music.
Persie describes himself as a “souls healer,” saying poetry is more than entertainment for him. He believes spoken word can help both the writer and the listener deal with emotional struggles and personal challenges.
His upcoming release, Ningangishayeli, features fellow poets Bless Lepoet and Umcondisi. The emotionally driven track carries a message of strength and refusing to be silenced. “My dream is simple,” said Persie. “To heal people with words. That’s all I want to do.”
With four EPs, nine singles and more than 23 performances already under his belt, Persie continues to establish himself as a growing voice for young people who often feel unheard.
