MBABANE– The Royal Eswatini Police Service has called for stronger community efforts to resolve conflict peacefully following a violent domestic incident in Mangwaneni, where a 25-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly attacking her ex-partner.
The incident, which occurred in Mangwaneni, Mbabane, left a 25-year-old man in critical condition after he was allegedly stabbed once on the left side of the neck with a sharp object and further assaulted. He is currently receiving medical treatment in hospital as police continue investigations.
According to information released by police, the suspect and the victim, who are both from Mangwaneni, were previously in a relationship before the situation escalated into violence. During the conflict, the woman allegedly used a sharp object to stab the man before continuing the assault using her fists and open hands.
The attack has once again drawn attention to the ongoing challenge of Gender-Based Violence, which continues to affect individuals, families and communities across the country. Incidents of this nature often begin as personal disputes but can quickly intensify, resulting in severe physical harm and long-term emotional consequences.
The Royal Eswatini Police Service stated that violence in any form is a criminal offence and should be reported as early as possible. Authorities highlighted that timely intervention can prevent situations from escalating to life-threatening levels.
“Violence destroys lives, breaks families and leaves scars that go far deeper than the physical,” police said, stressing the importance of choosing non-violent ways to handle disagreements.
Community voices continue to emphasise the value of communication, counselling and mediation in resolving disputes. Walking away from highly emotional situations is also being recognised as a practical step in preventing harm.
While the victim remains in critical condition, the incident serves as a reminder of the need for collective responsibility in addressing conflict. Promoting respect, empathy and self-control in relationships is seen as key to reducing violence and building safer communities.
