MBABANE– Hhohho Regional Administrator HRH Princess Tsandzile has officially opened the E340 000 Mncweba Dip Tank at Zandondo, calling on farmers to take ownership of the facility and protect the investment for future generations.
The dip tank, funded through a E310 000 investment from Microprojects and a E30 000 contribution from the community, is expected to benefit about 1200 cattle, alongside goats and sheep in the area.
Speaking during the official opening, Princess Tsandzile described the facility as an important investment in rural livelihoods, emphasising the role of livestock in supporting communities and the rural economy.
She urged farmers to ensure that the dip tank is properly maintained and protected, stressing that the responsibility of preserving the facility rests with the community that will benefit from it.
Princess Tsandzile also called on farmers to remain vigilant against Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD), urging them to observe recommended animal-health precautions and report suspected cases to veterinary authorities promptly.
The opening of the Mncweba Dip Tank marks an important addition to livestock infrastructure in Zandondo, giving farmers improved access to facilities that support animal health and livestock management.
The community’s E30 000 contribution towards the project also demonstrates local participation in the development, reinforcing the importance of partnerships between communities and government in strengthening rural livelihoods.
With the facility now operational, farmers have been encouraged to ensure that the investment continues delivering benefits by maintaining the infrastructure, using it responsibly and remaining committed to protecting their livestock from disease.
