PIGG’S PEAK – The Ministry of Economic Planning and Development, through its National Population Unit, is calling on researchers, academics, students and other interested stakeholders to submit research papers on population and development issues by 21 September 2026, ahead of the National Population and Development Summit scheduled for November 2026.
The call seeks to bring together research and evidence that can contribute to national discussions on population and development, while creating an opportunity for researchers to share their findings and contribute to evidence-based planning in Eswatini.
Director of the National Population Unit Nombulelo Dlamini has reinforced the call, encouraging researchers to use the opportunity to contribute work that can strengthen evidence-based planning and development in the country.
The research papers are expected to contribute to discussions around population and development, providing evidence and knowledge that can inform conversations on issues affecting the country’s development.
Dlamini also provided an overview of the upcoming National Population and Development Summit, which is scheduled for November 2026.
The Summit will provide a platform for researchers and other stakeholders to share research findings, exchange knowledge and engage on key population and development issues.
The initiative comes as the National Population Unit seeks to encourage greater participation by researchers in national conversations, particularly through evidence that can contribute to planning and development.
Researchers whose work focuses on population and development are therefore being encouraged to submit their papers before the closing date.
The National Population and Development Summit will subsequently provide a space for these issues to be discussed collectively, bringing research and development perspectives into one national conversation.
