MBABANE — Young people from Eswatini, Lesotho, and Kenya are being inspired to take up leadership roles and drive change in their communities at the 3rd Eswatini–Lesotho Scouts Leadership Seminar.

Eswatini National Youth Council (ENYC), brought together Scouts, leaders, and partners including the Africa Scout Foundation, the World Organization of the Scout Movement, and the Africa Scout Bureau to strengthen youth capacity and promote regional cooperation.

Delivering the keynote address, ENYC Chief Executive Officer Lwazi Mamba encouraged participants to embrace leadership with confidence and purpose, stressing that young people have a critical role to play in shaping the future of their nations.

“You are not just leaders of tomorrow; you are leaders of today,” said Mamba, challenging the youth to take initiative and act with integrity in their respective communities.

He highlighted that scouting remains an important platform for non-formal education, instilling values such as discipline, teamwork, service, and patriotism, which are essential for building responsible citizens.

Mamba also emphasised the importance of mindset transformation, urging young people to shift from dependency to self-reliance and innovation. He noted that a positive and growth-oriented mindset is key to unlocking opportunities and achieving meaningful impact.

The seminar further provided practical training through sessions on mindset change and proposal writing, equipping participants with skills to develop and implement community projects.

Aligned with Eswatini’s National Youth Policy, the initiative promotes social competence, leadership development, and active participation of young people in national and regional development.

The event continues to highlight the role of scouting in nurturing a capable and empowered generation ready to lead and contribute to society.
