MBABANE — Sicalimphilo Multi Purpose received a tractor worth over E1 million from the Rural Development Fund on 10 April 2026, in a move expected to support local enterprise, create jobs and improve service delivery within the constituency and beyond.
The handover, facilitated through the Tinkhundla system under the Rural Development Fund, marks a step forward for the group’s efforts to grow its operations while contributing to community development.
Chairperson Jabulile Ndwandwe said the journey began in January when the group submitted its request, expressing relief and gratitude that the support had finally been approved. “We made the request in January and by God’s grace it has finally come to pass,” she said. “It was not easy, but through collaboration with stakeholders it became possible.”
Ndwandwe said the tractor will not only improve efficiency in their operations but also open up employment opportunities within the community. She noted that the initiative will create jobs for a driver and workers who will assist with sourcing river sand and delivering it to customers.
“This project will benefit the community as it will provide job opportunities and improve access to services,” she saidThe tractor comes with a detachable ploughing attachment for farming activities, while a trailer is used for transporting river sand and other materials.
Member of Parliament Allen Vilane commended the initiative and encouraged other emaSwati in Madlangempisi to take advantage of the Rural Development Fund.
“As a constituency we have worked well with this company because whenever we needed support, they responded promptly,” he said. “I urge others to apply for RDF and also encourage the company to expand and invest in more tractors to create further employment.”
The development highlights how the Tinkhundla system continues to support grassroots initiatives by empowering communities to identify their needs and access government-backed funding.
For residents of Madlangempisi, the arrival of the tractor signals more than just equipment, it represents opportunity, collaboration and a practical pathway towards improving livelihoods.
