MANZINI – The Swaziland Action Group Against Abuse (SWAGAA) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the rights and inclusion of children with disabilities following a monitoring visit by representatives from KNH.

The visit, which took place on March 3, 2026, formed part of ongoing efforts to assess project progress and engage directly with beneficiary communities to ensure meaningful impact.

At St Joseph’s School, the delegation met with members of the Students’ Empowerment Clubs for children with disabilities as well as the Parents’ Club.

Through these platforms, children with disabilities are being empowered to understand their rights, build confidence and actively participate in decisions that affect their lives. Parents, on the other hand, are being equipped with advocacy skills to champion inclusion, protection and equal opportunities for their children both at school and within their communities.

In Mafutseni Constituency, discussions centred on the project’s impact at community level, particularly in strengthening social inclusion and challenging harmful attitudes that marginalise children with disabilities. The engagement also focused on sustainability and the role of collective leadership in improving long-term outcomes.

The organisation emphasised that inclusion is not charity, but a right that must be upheld by all sectors of society. Monitoring visits of this nature, it was noted, help reinforce accountability, strengthen partnerships and ensure that no child is left behind.

The initiative reflects continued efforts to build communities where every child, regardless of ability, is valued, protected and given the opportunity to thrive.
