MBABABE– Mbabane Swallows Football Club is set to raise the Eswatini flag high next month as they head to Angola to compete in the 4th edition of the Torneio da Amizade (Friendship Tournament).
Running from the 8th to the 14th of September 2025, the tournament will be staged across two cities Luanda and Benguela with matches scheduled at the iconic São Filipe Stadium and the vibrant Buraco Stadium. This marks a significant milestone for Swallows, who will be making their debut appearance in what has become one of Southern Africa’s most anticipated pre-season football festivals.
With eight teams confirmed to participate, the tournament promises a clash of styles, cultures, and ambitions as clubs from across the continent go head-to-head in 15 tightly contested matches. For Mbabane Swallows, this opportunity comes at a crucial time in their preparation for the new season. Not only does it offer the technical bench a chance to test their tactical setup against foreign opposition, but it also provides the players a platform to grow, adapt, and gel as a unit.
Mbabane Swallows’ inclusion brings a new flavour to the mix, as they introduce Angolan fans to the energy, grit, and passion of Eswatini football. For many players, this will be their first time playing outside of Southern Africa, and the exposure to a different footballing environment is expected to sharpen their mental and physical game.
Despite being viewed as newcomers in the competition, Swallows will not be flying to Angola merely to participate they are going there to compete. Known for their attacking flair, disciplined defence, and never-say-die attitude, the Swallows will be looking to make a statement and possibly return home with silverware. Fans back home will be watching closely, eager to see how their team matches up against some of the region’s best. The tournament presents a golden opportunity for emerging players to shine on a bigger stage and perhaps even catch the eye of scouts from outside the country.
With just weeks to go before kick-off, anticipation is building. Training sessions have intensified, tactical drills are underway, and the team spirit in the Swallows camp is sky-high. As the date draws closer, one thing is certain Mbabane Swallows are ready to embrace the challenge. They are not just travelling for football; they are travelling to represent the pride, potential, and passion of Eswatini. And when they step onto that Angolan pitch, they will carry with them the hopes of a nation and the dream of returning as champions.
