MBABANE— Vulnerable households in Mbabane East received urgent humanitarian aid from the Embassy of Taiwan, consisting of 120 bags of 30kg rice and 228 pairs of socks, received by Member East Member of Parliament Hon. Welcome Dlamini to support families facing food shortages and financial strain, at Ka-Boyce Primary School on 7 January 2026.
Dlamini, said the donation will benefit residents across the four chiefdoms of Msunduza, Fonteyn, Mdzimba, and Sidvwashini. “This support comes at a critical time, as families are coping with post-festive expenses and back-to-school costs. The constituency will also help turn the donation into full meals for those in need,” Dlamini said.
The MP expressed gratitude to Taiwan for its ongoing support. “This is not the first time they have assisted us. Their continued generosity strengthens communities across Eswatini, and we are thankful for their partnership,” he added.
Ching-Lin Tsuei, Minister of the Taiwan Embassy, emphasized that the aid reflects Taiwan’s commitment to being a “genuine and lasting friend” to the Emaswati people. “We walk this journey together, from healthcare and agriculture, to education and women’s empowerment, standing shoulder to shoulder in difficult times. Our action is driven by compassion, and we aim to ensure that no family is left behind,” Tsuei said.
The donation illustrates the strong bilateral ties between Eswatini and Taiwan, highlighting practical cooperation in supporting communities most in need. Families in Mbabane East are expected to receive rice and socks immediately, providing relief from hunger and essential winter supplies.
