MBABANE – In the quiet community of Nkoyoyo, 16-year-old Siphokazi Sifiso Twala continues to face the daily challenge of severe eczema, a condition he has lived with for more than a decade. His story is one of resilience and hope, and his family is reaching out to the public for support.
His mother, Wendi Sithembile Dlamini, recalls how it all began shortly after her son’s birthday in 2010. What started as a small rash has grown into a persistent condition requiring repeated hospital visits. At one point, cryogen treatment showed promising results, but the eczema soon returned, bringing with it severe discomfort.
The condition causes fluid to seep through Siphokazi’s skin, particularly around his neck, often soaking his clothes and forcing his mother to find replacements frequently. Despite trying several treatments, the family has yet to find a lasting solution.
“Our biggest challenge is financial,” Dlamini explained. “I am not employed, and my father, who used to help us, lost his job. My mother is about to retire but still supports us by paying school fees. We are truly struggling.”
Yet even in these difficult circumstances, there is room for gratitude. Dlamini expressed heartfelt appreciation to SOS Mbabane, her son’s school, for standing by the family and supporting Siphokazi’s education. “Their understanding has allowed my son to keep learning, which gives him hope,” she said.
The family believes that with assistance, whether financial support, medical advice, or other forms of help, Siphokazi can find more stability and focus on his studies.
“We are humbly pleading for support of any kind that could make a difference in his life,” Dlamini said with hope.
