MBABANE– Newly appointed Eswatini Post and Telecommunications Corporation (EPTC) Managing Director (MD), Thulani Fakudze, had landed an internship 26 years ago at the telecommunications company only to return as MD.
Fakudze made this revelation on June 4, 2026 at the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) Conference Room where Minister Savannah Maziya availed or announced him as the newly appointed EPTC MD.
The new EPTC MD who was working at Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM) as a Technical Director (TD) pledged turnaround and growth at EPTC during his three-year tenure, effective July 1, 2026.
Pledge To Work With Staff, Management And Board
Fakudze has pledged to work tirelessly with staff, management, the Board, and other stakeholders to restore the organisation to its former glory.
Speaking after being introduced as the new head of the telecommunications entity, the Managing Director expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him and promised to address the challenges facing the organisation.
“I am very excited after being introduced as the new Managing Director of EPTC. I am humbled to accept this responsibility and I do so with immense humility and utmost respect,” he said.
Experienced In Telecommunications Sector
The new Managing Director said he fully understands the responsibilities that come with the position, having spent many years in the telecommunications sector.
“I have worked in the telecommunications industry for some time and I understand the issues that require urgent attention. Together with the team, we will work hard to grow and improve EPTC so that it can regain its highest glory days,” he said.
He revealed that although he will officially assume office on a date they had agreed upon with the Board Chairman, Attorney Kwanele Magagula, his relationship with EPTC dates back more than two decades.
Started Career At EPTC As Intern
“This will not be my first time working at EPTC. I started my career here as an intern in 2000. At that time, it was a very exciting place to work,” he said.
The Managing Director said his experience as a former EPTC customer and his work with the telecommunications sector regulator have equipped him with a clear understanding of the industry’s challenges and opportunities.
“I am aware of the pressing matters and priorities that need our immediate attention. The Minister has already outlined expectations, and we are committed to delivering on them,” he said.
Thank EPTC Board And Government
He thanked the Board and government for entrusting him with the position.
“I thank the Board and the Minister for trusting me with this responsibility. I want to assure the public that we will do all we can to elevate and strengthen the position of the organisation,” he said.
Meanwhile, the EPTC Board Chairman, Magagula, expressed confidence in the new Managing Director’s ability to lead the organisation forward.
Dlamini said the Board remains committed to ensuring that EPTC regains its status as a world-class and competitive organisation capable of making a meaningful contribution to economic growth.
Playing Critical Role In Contributing To Economy
“We will ensure that EPTC returns to its old days as a world-class and competitive organisation, playing a critical role in contributing to the growth of the economy,” he said.
The Chairman also thanked all stakeholders who supported the recruitment process, which culminated in the appointment of the new Managing Director.
