MBABANE – President of Business Eswatini Mvuselelo Fakudze says the country is entering 2026 with renewed confidence, improved economic fundamentals and a real opportunity for shared prosperity, provided all sectors unite around a common national vision.
Speaking at the Business Eswatini Annual Reflections 2026, held under the theme “King, Country, Business,” Fakudze, who is also Standard Bank CEO, emphasized that collaboration between the private sector, government and workers will be the defining factor in shaping the country’s economic direction in the year ahead.
He highlighted inflation control as one of the most encouraging developments of 2025, noting that inflation easing to just under three percent was a major gain for ordinary citizens. Fakudze explained that high inflation erodes incomes and purchasing power, while lower inflation helps protect salaries and stabilise the cost of living, directly improving people’s livelihoods.
The Business Eswatini President also welcomed the country’s improving international standing, saying better global ratings were restoring confidence in Eswatini’s economy. He commended the collective efforts of both government and the private sector in improving how the country is perceived globally, noting that recognition by international institutions places Eswatini in a strong position to attract investment and stimulate growth.
Looking ahead, Fakudze delivered a balanced message about 2026, stressing that the year’s outcome will largely depend on attitude, unity and action. He observed that while some may view the coming year with optimism or concern, success will ultimately be determined by how well the nation works together.
He called for unity of vision and purpose among all stakeholders, emphasising that collaboration between business, labour, policymakers and government can significantly multiply the country’s chances of success. With a shared commitment and collective effort, he expressed confidence that Eswatini can achieve its economic ambitions and unlock greater opportunities for its people.
Fakudze concluded by expressing optimism for the year ahead, stating that if unity is maintained and all sectors pull in the same direction, Eswatini’s future in 2026 remains bright and full of promise.
