MBABANE – A national webinar will be held this Wednesday to address Eswatini’s widening skills gap and discuss practical ways to align education with market demands.

Organised by the Leadership Growth Forum (LGF) in collaboration with the Eswatini Higher Education Council (ESHEC) and the Eswatini Economic Policy Analysis and Research Centre (ESEPARC), the event will unpack findings from the 2025 National Skills Anticipation Report and explore long-term solutions for workforce development.

Phiwe Dlamini, LGF Media and Public Liaison Officer, said the virtual gathering aims to turn insight into action.

“This webinar is a crucial opportunity to translate data into action. We’re convening experts and stakeholders across sectors to discuss how Eswatini can strategically close its skills gap and prepare a workforce that is future-ready,” she said.

The report highlights critical shortages in engineering, technical trades, digital technology, and green industries, gaps that could threaten Eswatini’s competitiveness if not addressed urgently.

Moderated by Sharon Maziya, President of the Institute of People Management (IPM) Eswatini, the session will focus on how training institutions can better respond to market needs. Discussions will also cover the need for soft skills such as adaptability, teamwork, and critical thinking.

“This is about building a workforce not just for today’s needs, but for the opportunities and disruptions of the future,” added Dlamini.

The webinar will also explore ways to ensure youth and vulnerable groups are not left behind in skills development efforts.

The event is open to employers, HR professionals, policymakers, educators, and youth advocates. It will take place on Wednesday, 25 June 2025 at 5:30 PM via Microsoft Teams. Registration can be confirmed via WhatsApp on +268 7828 2825.
