MANYOVU– Manyovu High School has marked a significant milestone on today with the official inauguration of its newly completed Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) project, a development expected to improve the learning environment and the health of both learners and teachers.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the school, brought together representatives from the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development’s Microprojects Programme, Engineers in Action, the Ministry of Education and Training, community leaders, parents and learners to celebrate the successful completion of the project.
The programme featured cultural performances by learners, including Ummiso dance, Sibhaca and Ingadla, as well as a poem and remarks from various stakeholders. Speakers included Engineers in Action WASH Programme Manager Patrick Matte, Head Teacher Mrs Siphiwe Mavimbela, Regional Education Officer Richard Dlamini, Director of the Microprojects Programme Sibusiso Mbingo, the Indvuna Yenkhundla, and the area’s Member of Parliament.
Speaking during the ceremony, Engineers in Action WASH Programme Manager Patrick Matte expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the project a success.
“This project would not have been possible without the commitment and cooperation of all our stakeholders. We sincerely thank the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development through the Microprojects Programme, the Ministry of Education and Training, community leaders, the school management, parents, learners and every partner who played a role. Your dedication and collaboration have helped provide a healthier and safer learning environment for the children of Manyovu High School,” said Matte.
He encouraged the school and the community to take good care of the new facilities so that they continue to benefit future generations of learners.
The event also gave learners an opportunity to voice their appreciation through a student representative, while school management welcomed the investment as a major step towards improving sanitation, hygiene and the overall learning experience.
