MBABANE– The creative industry is celebrating a monumental achievement as multi-talented artist Zee Nxumalo bags an impressive seven nominations for this year’s Metro FM Music Awards.
Her recognition across diverse genres highlights her unique position as one of the most versatile forces in contemporary African music.
Zee Nxumalo’s incredible run at this year’s awards includes nominations in the following categories:
- Best Lekompo – for Rato Laka
- Best Music Video – for Mamma
- Best Gqom/Kwaito – for Ngyasindelwa
- Best Maskandi – for Sajola Kamnandi
- Best Styled Artist

Born in Eswatini and raised in Alexandra, Johannesburg, Zee Nxumalo’s journey is a classic tale of ambition meeting talent. She began as a high school rapper before evolving into one of the most prominent voices in the Amapiano movement. Her breakthrough came with the 2023 hit Pholile, and she has since solidified her place in the industry with record-breaking projects like the 5× Platinum Funk 55.
Following a historic 2025, Zee has officially opened her 2026 chapter by releasing her first single of the year, “Awe Mah,” on February 20. The track is a high-energy collaboration featuring Dlala Thukzin, Funky QLA, Shakes & Les, and MK Productions. Within just four days of its release, the visualizer garnered over 88 000 views, proving that her digital pull remains as strong as ever.
Beyond the music, her nomination for Best Styled Artist highlights her significant influence on fashion and visual presentation. Her evolution—from building a cult following on TikTok to gracing the cover of Glamour magazine—proves she is not just a passing trend but a cultural icon.
