MBABANE – Dreams do come true!

Zee Nxumalo has reached another major milestone, being named on the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 list for 2026 and featured on the prestigious cover.

The recognition places her among the continent’s most influential young creatives and reinforces her status as one of the standout Afro-pop and Amapiano voices of her generation.

On 22 June 2026, she shared her heartfelt reaction on her official Instagram page, writing in part:

“For the little girl who dared to dream beyond what she could see, for every lesson, every setback, every prayer and every stage along the way. This moment is for all of it.”

The Forbes cover moment comes amid a broader wave of visibility for the star, including her recent feature on the June/July GQ cover, reflecting her growing influence beyond music into youth culture, fashion, and entertainment.

Born Zandile Nxumalo on 6 January 2003 in Eswatini, she later moved with her family to Alexandra in Johannesburg, where she was raised. She comes from a culturally rich background, with a father from the LiSwati community and a mother of Xhosa descent—heritage that has helped shape her unique sound and artistic identity.

She attended Sandown High School and is currently pursuing a Law degree at the University of Johannesburg, balancing her academic journey with a rapidly rising music career. Her passion for performance began early in childhood, encouraged by her aunts who often had her singing at family gatherings and funerals—early moments that nurtured her talent long before she entered the professional music scene.

Zee officially burst onto the music scene at 19 with her debut single “Siyajola,” quickly gaining attention for her distinctive vocals and emotional delivery. In 2023, she took a decisive step into professional music after realizing that fans were willing to pay for her performances—a turning point that cemented her commitment to the industry. Social media also played a pivotal role in her rise, eventually opening international doors, including a UK tour invitation.

Her breakthrough success was driven by hits such as “Mamma,” a collaboration with Funk 55, DBN Gogo, and Shakes & Les, which achieved five-times platinum status and cemented her mainstream recognition. She has also earned a Metro FM Award nomination and performed at the ceremony, receiving recognition in the Best Kwaito/Gqom Song category for “FOMO,” featuring Goldmax, Dlala Thukzin, and Funky Qla.

Last year, she made her debut appearance at the MTN Bushfire Festival, a moment she described as especially meaningful as it marked her first performance in Eswatini, with family in kaHlatsi eagerly anticipating her live set.

Now 23, she continues to build momentum with viral and streaming successes such as “Thula Mabota,” which has surpassed 5 million YouTube views, further cementing her position as one of Southern Africa’s most exciting rising star.
