MANZINI– Traditional football giants Manzini Wanderers have called on supporters from across Eswatini and abroad to attend a crucial mass meeting scheduled for Saturday, June 27, at the Manzini Library as the club seeks to chart a new course for its future.
In a statement circulated by the club, Wanderers invited all supporters, stakeholders and well-wishers from all walks of life to attend the gathering and make submissions on the way forward for the maroon-and-white outfit.
The meeting comes at a significant time for the club, which has endured one of the most turbulent periods in its history. After being relegated from the top flight at the end of the 2025/26 season, Wanderers became embroiled in a lengthy legal battle over their Premier League status a few years back after being relegated in the 2023/24 season. The dispute, which centred on the eligibility of a Denver Sundowns player, saw the club spend months fighting for reinstatement through football and civil courts.
Recent developments have, however, brought renewed optimism to the club’s faithful. Wanderers were eventually reinstated to top-flight football and returned to the Premier League for the 2025/26 season after winning key legal battles.
The club has also shown signs of rebuilding, having strengthened its squad with new signings ahead of its return campaign while reports had linked the team with potential investors from South Africa as it seeks financial stability and long-term growth.
Despite their rich history, Wanderers have faced challenges on and off the field in recent years. One of Eswatini’s oldest and most successful clubs, founded in 1957, the team boasts six league titles and numerous domestic cup triumphs, making it one of the country’s football powerhouses.
Club insiders believe the upcoming supporters’ meeting could prove pivotal in shaping the future of the institution, with supporters expected to discuss governance, financial sustainability, team development and strategies to restore Wanderers to their former glory.
For many members of the “liweseli” family, the gathering represents more than just a meeting. It is viewed as an opportunity for supporters to unite behind a club that has survived legal battles, relegation threats and financial uncertainty while remaining one of the most recognisable brands in Eswatini football.
With the 2026/27 football season on the horizon, Wanderers are hoping that the collective wisdom of their supporters will help lay the foundation for a stronger and more competitive future.
