SHISELWENI– A total of 324 toilets are being constructed in Hhohho Emuva, Shiselweni, as part of efforts to improve sanitation and access to modern toilet facilities for households in the community.
The construction forms part of sanitation interventions under the Eswatini Water Supply and Sanitation Access Project, which seeks to increase access to improved water and sanitation services in targeted areas of the country. The project is supported through World Bank financing.
The development is expected to improve household sanitation by providing residents with better toilet facilities while supporting efforts to promote healthier living conditions within the community.
Hhohho Emuva Bucopho Sikhumbuzo Xaba said he was particularly happy about the development, noting that the new toilets would contribute towards improving health and sanitation in the area.
Xaba said the modern features of the toilets made the development particularly important to the community, as residents would have access to improved sanitation facilities. He said the construction represented a meaningful development for Hhohho Emuva, particularly because proper sanitation plays an important role in maintaining healthy communities.
Construction of the 324 toilets has already started at Hhohho Emuva and is yet to be completed, with work continuing to provide households with improved and modern sanitation facilities.
The Eswatini Water Supply and Sanitation Access Project is designed to improve the availability, quality and reliability of water and sanitation services, with the wider project expected to benefit the people of the community.
The construction of the 324 toilets therefore adds to ongoing efforts to expand sanitation services in Shiselweni while bringing improved facilities closer to households in Hhohho Emuva. For residents, the development provides an opportunity to access improved toilet facilities while contributing to cleaner and healthier communities.
