MBABANE– Mbabane Highlanders secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over rivals Mbabane Swallows in an entertaining Mbabane Derby played at Somhlolo National Stadium on Sunday May 17, 2026.
The decisive moment arrived in the 84th minute when Smiso Gumede broke the deadlock with a crucial goal that sent the Black Bulls supporters into celebration. After a tense encounter filled with determination from both sides, Gumede’s late strike proved to be the difference between the two teams.
The match remained evenly balanced for much of the game as both Highlanders and Swallows created chances while displaying disciplined defending. Swallows looked threatening on several occasions, but Highlanders remained compact at the back and patient in attack.
As the clock ticked down, Highlanders intensified their pressure and were rewarded when Gumede calmly finished past the goalkeeper to hand his side the lead.
