MBABANE- The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Senator Manqoba Khumalo, has pledged to sponsor the tuition fees of one Bachelor’s degree student every year for the rest of his life, in a move set to transform the lives of young emaSwati seeking higher education opportunities.

The announcement was made during the Eswatini College of Theology’s “Partnership for Impact” dinner held in Ezulwini on Friday evening, where leaders from government, churches, businesses and other sectors gathered to discuss ways of strengthening education and community empowerment.

Speaking during the event, Khumalo said he and his wife were deeply touched by the presentations and testimonies shared during the dinner, leading them to make the life-changing commitment.

“As we were sitting down listening to the speakers, my wife and I thought it good that we sponsor one student each year for the rest of our lives, so help me God,” said Khumalo.

The minister said the decision was inspired by the national call for Agape love, encouraging emaSwati to uplift others through meaningful acts of service and compassion.

For deserving students, the initiative will provide more than financial assistance. It will offer access to tertiary education, renewed hope and an opportunity to build a brighter future.

Guests at the dinner welcomed the pledge with applause, describing it as a powerful example of leadership that invests directly in people and education.

The Eswatini College of Theology continues to play a key role in developing leaders and empowering communities through education, mentorship and faith-based programmes. Stakeholders at the event also highlighted the importance of partnerships between institutions, government and the private sector in creating opportunities for young people across the country.
