MANZINI – Over 100 Bakers will unite for Sweet Somhlolo showcase on Saturday!
A delicious celebration of creativity, community, and cakes is coming to Somhlolo Park this Saturday, June 28, 2025, as Cake Baking Eswatini hosts the nation’s first-ever Bakers Picnic. Entry is free.
From 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the park will come alive with the sweet scent of fresh pastries, live music, laughter, and over 100 bakers showcasing their skills and selling their treats. Hailing from all four regions of the country, the bakers will gather not only to celebrate their craft but also to network, collaborate, and inspire a growing community of food entrepreneurs.

“This is more than just a picnic,” said Chairperson Sibusiso Mashwama of Cake Baking Eswatini. “It’s a platform for bakers to shine, sell, learn, and collaborate.”
The Bakers Picnic will feature:
Live music and entertainment
Cake decoration demos
Baking tutorials and challenges
Pastry and cake stalls
Open networking spaces for emerging and professional bakers
Participants are encouraged to bring gazebos, tables, chairs, and a mouth-watering display of baked goods. Entry is free, making it an inclusive event for families, foodies, and aspiring bakers alike.
Chosen for its central location and family-friendly atmosphere, Somhlolo Park is expected to provide the perfect backdrop for this relaxed, festive celebration of Eswatini’s growing baking culture.
Adding a touch of prestige, the event will be graced by The Honourable Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo, whose presence reflects government support for small-scale bakers as vital contributors to Eswatini’s economic and creative development.
