MBABANE –Simphiweyinkhosi Sibisi, popularly known as Simps, is making her mark in the local music industry as a rising Umgidvo female artist determined to preserve and celebrate emaSwati culture through music and dance.
Hailing from Kwaluseni, Simps has built a name for herself through traditional dance, cultural expression and now music. Known for her strong cultural background and passion for siSwati traditions, she is described as a complete package within the Umgidvo music scene.
Her first appearance on stage as an artist took place last weekend at the Makoti Festival, where she impressed audiences during her debut performance holding the microphone for the very first time.
Speaking about her journey, fellow artist and mentor praised her dedication and talent, saying he first connected with Simps on TikTok in April last year after she expressed interest in becoming his backup dancer. “Since then we have shared a beautiful sisterhood and brotherhood relationship. She has been next to me in most of my local and outside border performances, always giving her all whenever she gets on stage,” he said.
He further emphasized that Simps is an independent brand with her own vision and identity. “She’s not under me, she’s a stand-alone brand. Because of her availability in studio sessions, we tested her vocals on Emaweni and they worked. Who am I to stand between a person and her destiny?” he added.

Her upcoming song titled Ngiyachakaza was recorded at the beginning of April and is currently in its final production stages under Tus Mvuleni from Emadlelweni Music.
According to her mentor, Simps stands out because of her ability to combine music with cultural dance, making her unique within the growing Umgidvo genre. “If someone has been good to you, why not give her the best? I saw this as an opportunity to introduce her to emaSwati and give her a platform,” he said.
Despite it being her first time performing as a vocalist on stage, Simps received praise for her performance at the Makoti Festival. Her mentor expressed confidence in her future, stating that she is entering a space with very few female artists. “She’s going to be big, no doubt. If she pushes herself hard, she is going to kill it. I can only guide and support her, but she is going to run this journey her own way,” he said.
As she continues to grow her brand, Simps represents a new generation of young emaSwati creatives using culture, music and dance to inspire and preserve tradition while creating opportunities within the entertainment industry.
