LOBAMBA- Government has allocated E1.2 billion to the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office to strengthen social protection programmes.
In 2025/26, 263 090 emaSwati across 58 201 households benefited from food assistance. Additionally, 256 houses were constructed for vulnerable families.
For 2026/27, 60 more houses will be built and 200 families will receive livelihood support.
“These are not statistics. These are specific families with specific names,” the Minister said.
Government is transitioning children from institutional care to family-based care and establishing Community Justice Committees to promote restorative justice.
The Disaster Risk Management Act 2025 provides a new legal framework for coordinated disaster response.
“These essential services are about taking care of the most vulnerable,” the Minister affirmed.
