NTFONJENI – His Majesty the King has warned against corruption in handling pubic funds. This is after the King commended Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF) for handling public funds with honesty and integrity.

The King made these remarks on 9 March 2026 at Ntfonjeni Inkhundla after officially opening Mshinande Clinic, a health development project worth E15 million.

He commended SMVAF for proper handling of the public funds. The King thanked the Fund board, management and staff for their honesty and integrity in handling public funds. He noted that the Fund had worked well with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance.

His Majesty the King also said the nation had full confidence on the capabilities of medical practitioners deployed across Eswatini. He noted that these medical practitioners had shown dedicated as they execute their daily duties and expressed great appreciation towards their commitment in serving the nation.

The King also expressed appreciation to Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF) for continued assistance to road accident victims. His Majesty noted that the Fund do not only compensate accident victims but would also provide financial support to families of those who died from car accidents which enabled them to be financially stable even in an event when they had lost the family breadwinner.

The King added that despite this financial assistance, the country has deemed it proper to increase SMVAF payouts to families of accident victims or victims themselves as the payouts had notably been insufficient to support the intended beneficiaries.

His Majesty urged residents of Ntfonjeni Inkhundla and surrounding areas who will benefit from the new clinic to take good care of the facility so that it can also benefit future generations. He also thanked ‘tetfulo’ presented to him as a token of appreciation at Ntfonjeni Inkhundla.

In addition, the King pleaded with the nation to observe road safety rules. He said even those who drink alcohol must ensure they do not drink and used public roads but consume their alcoholic beverages at home to keep safe from road accidents.

King Mswati III then urged those who usually climb mountains and high places to do so with extra caution and stated that such places posed serious danger as one could easily get injured by falling or plunge in a gorge.

Those employed in mines were also cautioned by the King to take extra caution to avoid being involved in accidents while carrying out their duties. The King mentioned that accidents may not be totally avoided but must happen because it could not be avoided and not as a result of negligence.

The King urged the nation to closely follow on safety guidelines issued by relevant entities such as government entities and community leaders among others. The King applauded SMVAF’s first regional facility. He said medical facilities should not be stationed along the Mbabane-Manzini corridor but it was imparative that health services were decentralized.

His Majesty noted that the first phase was completed and as per needs of the people, the health facility will continue to be expanded. He called for more health facilities of this nature tobe built in all four regions of the country. The King said despite being a clinic of accident victims. The clinic was expected to assist local people in many health issues such as offering services to women in labour and about to give birth.

These, are the kind of emergencies His Majesty the King said the health institution is expected to assist residents with, so that they did not travel long distances for medical care.

The opening of the clinic marked another step in strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that communities have improved access to quality medical services closer to their homes.
