As the nation honors the vision of His Majesty King Mswati III under the Nkwe mandate, Imisebe Publishing Company has made significant contributions to enhancing and improving the quality of the education system through locally relevant learning materials. Imisebe has ensured the availability of school materials just prior to the start of the school calendar to prevent disruptions in schools due to book shortages. Imisebe Publishing has been producing high-quality materials with robust binding strength and durability that withstands harsh conditions. We have consistently managed to supply schools across the country punctually without any interruptions.
It is important to highlight the remarkable expansion of Imisebe publishing, which has established itself as a key player in the educational sector of Eswatini. Over the years, guided by the vision of His Majesty King Mswati III, we have made significant progress; among the numerous publications we have released are Sabalala Misebe, Emaphupho Emadvwala, Wena Bowungatsine, The Mending Season, Pieces of the World, JC Science Revision, A Raisin in the Sun, and SiSwati Charts. All these publications are a source of pride under the leadership and vision of His Majesty King Mswati III. A notable achievement occurred in 2022 when we successfully launched the nation’s first monolingual dictionary, Umphandza, with the support of former Deputy Prime Minister Themba Masuku.
This siSwati dictionary plays a crucial role in preserving the siSwati language and aids those who find it challenging to communicate in our mother tongue. The dictionary is available in two versions: one designed for primary schools, featuring illustrations and colored fonts, and the other tailored for high school students. One of our primary objectives is to focus on publishing educational materials that aim to preserve and promote our culture and heritage. In line with our commitment to cultural promotion, we have been supporting the Miss Cultural Heritage event since its inception, which is organized by the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture, and we have also supported cultural days in schools across the country.
Throughout the years, guided by the vision of His Majesty King Mswati III, we have successfully ensured the accessibility of our materials and aligned ourselves with international publishing standards. This includes making books available in both hardcopy and eBook formats. Additionally, our books can be found on the digital platform ITSI, offered at significantly reduced prices. Readers now have the opportunity to access curriculum-aligned materials at a more affordable cost. Furthermore, in 2023, we introduced the siSwati digital spelling competition, Sibitelo neMisebe, where students engage in online competitions using tablets and the internet. Students input siSwati words.
Imisebe Publishing’s vision for enhancing education in Eswatini will persist in supporting the Nkwe mandate of empowering emaSwati by assisting emerging authors in becoming established writers, thereby enabling us to consistently produce high-quality materials.
Congratulations, Your Majesty, on reaching four decades of unwavering leadership. Your foresight and commitment have significantly influenced our nation’s path, motivating generations. May the future years bestow upon you renewed strength, happiness, and ongoing advancement for Eswatini.
