MBABANE – Assurance by Eskom that there will be no load shedding in South Africa this winter is creating a positive outlook for Eswatini, with prospects of improved electricity stability across the country.
As a nation that relies significantly on imported electricity, Eswatini stands to benefit from Eskom’s strengthened performance and more consistent power generation.
During previous winter seasons, load shedding in South Africa often had a direct effect on local supply, resulting in disruptions and the introduction of controlled power measures.
EEC Monitoring Local Demand
The Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) has indicated that while the regional outlook is encouraging, local electricity consumption will remain a key factor in maintaining supply stability.
“The implementation of load management or not is determined by customer usage of electricity. At this stage, no decision has been taken on whether there will be load management or not. We will be monitoring customer consumption and will advise the public if the need arises. Customers are always encouraged to use electricity effectively,” the EEC said.
The utility’s position reflects a proactive approach focused on closely monitoring demand while giving consumers an active role in helping sustain a reliable electricity supply.
