MBABANE – The Government of Eswatini has reaffirmed its support for Taiwan’s participation in global health platforms ahead of the 79th World Health Assembly (WHA), which begins on 18 May 2026.

The move reflects Eswatini’s continued commitment to strengthening international cooperation in healthcare and safeguarding the well-being of emaSwati through partnerships that promote innovation, knowledge-sharing and universal access to health services.

The WHA, which operates under the World Health Organization (WHO), brings together countries from around the world to discuss global health priorities, disease prevention strategies and healthcare development initiatives.

Taiwan Praised For Health Contributions

Eswatini highlighted Taiwan’s contributions to global healthcare, particularly in areas such as chronic disease prevention, mental health support, infectious disease control and digital health innovation.

Taiwan has also been recognised internationally for its efforts towards universal health coverage and the use of technology to improve healthcare delivery.

According to the Government of Eswatini, Taiwan’s experience and expertise could contribute positively to international health discussions and collaborative health programmes aimed at improving lives globally.

“Eswatini continues to support Taiwan’s valuable contributions to global health,” the Government stated.

Focus On Health And Human Well-Being

Eswatini further emphasised the importance of ensuring that global health cooperation remains focused on improving people’s lives and strengthening healthcare systems across all nations.

The country called for broader collaboration within international health platforms and urged the global community to place public health priorities above political differences.

Government also stressed the importance of recognising health as a fundamental human right and ensuring that all communities benefit from global medical knowledge and innovation.

Strengthening International Partnerships

Eswatini and Taiwan have maintained long-standing diplomatic relations and cooperation in various sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, education and technology development.

Through these partnerships, Taiwan has supported several development initiatives in Eswatini aimed at improving healthcare services and strengthening capacity within the country’s public institutions.

Observers say Eswatini’s support for Taiwan’s participation in global health discussions reflects the Kingdom’s broader commitment to international solidarity and cooperation.
