SIKHUPHE – His Majesty King Mswati III has embarked on a significant international diplomatic mission to Azerbaijan, India and the United Arab Emirates, in a move expected to strengthen Eswatini’s global partnerships, investment opportunities and international cooperation agenda.
The King is accompanied by Inkhosikati LaMashwama during the high-level engagements that place Eswatini among nations actively shaping global discussions on urban development, trade, technology and economic transformation.
In Azerbaijan, His Majesty is expected to participate in the 2026 World Urban Forum in Baku from May 17 to 22. The prestigious global gathering will bring together Heads of State, policymakers, development institutions, investors and urban planning experts to deliberate on sustainable cities, infrastructure expansion, housing, climate resilience and smart urban development.
The forum presents an important platform for Eswatini to engage with international partners on modern infrastructure solutions and sustainable development strategies aligned with the country’s long-term economic vision.

Following the Azerbaijan engagement, the King is expected in New Delhi, India, for the Fourth India-Africa Forum Summit scheduled for May 28 to 31. The summit is regarded as one of the most influential cooperation platforms between India and African nations, focusing on trade expansion, investment partnerships, industrialisation, digital transformation, agriculture, healthcare and innovation.
The gathering is expected to provide Eswatini with opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation with India while exploring new avenues for economic growth, skills development, technology transfer and market access.
His Majesty’s visit to the United Arab Emirates is also expected to further strengthen diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries. The UAE remains one of the world’s leading investment and innovation hubs, and the engagement is anticipated to support Eswatini’s efforts to attract foreign direct investment, enhance trade relations and unlock new development partnerships.
The international engagements reflect Eswatini’s growing participation in global affairs and its commitment to building strong international alliances that support national development priorities, economic resilience and sustainable growth.
